I don't see anything wrong with your computer that would cause it to lag that bad with so few trees.
The only thing I can think of is that you have a lot of other stuff going on in the scene at the same time.

Try making a new area and only place trees. Place a few, test it. And as Sakar said, I don't really see anything wrong with your computer either. Your video card could be causing a bit of problems, and you could safely assume that a fair portion of your potential players would have more powerful gfx cards, you would still want to get it running smoothly on your computer so as to not lock potential users out of your game with high system requirements. Since RC Standard was written in Blitz 3D, it seems to require higher than expected system requirements for the graphics it is displaying.
