I am number 4

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

This movie is a few years old and actually got some bad reviews but I actually liked it! It wasn't super good or anything but it was better than expected. Yeah it was corny in many places but overall it was worth the watch. I watched it on the plane so that might have made it better as anything makes a plane ride better. Except Green Hornet.

Haha! You had to go back a few years to come up with a good movie review. Did my comment about how your movie reviews were getting a little predictable get to you?

I find that some of the stories have good concepts, just the directors fail at delivering them to the viewers. Hollywood has turned into a machine pumping out various types of sewage.

Seen this movie as well, unfortunately my daugther caused me to review it. It had some good concepts and was interesting. Nothing to go out of your way to watch, but if it is on TV or on Netflix, then it is a show to put on and watch.

Honestly, almost all movies that have come out of Hollywood since 2005 have followed the formula in this book to the letter. Have you noticed that movie from the last 9 years all seem to become more and more like each other? You can literally find the DNA of every major movie since then in the 215 pages of this book.

The formula is calculated to an insane degree to play on people's emotions, to appear unpredictable, etc. If you happen to be one of the people who the formula doesn't particularly work on, then the last decade of movies has probably been a barren wasteland.

You are correct Jack. LOL!

For me personally, there hasn't been anything out there that I can really say is "good" compared to back further, like the 70's, 80's, 90's. Even then, this is all just filler and time wasters.

its an ok movie to watch. i liked it, most of the time atleast. the dog was cool. (must hurt like hell to transform like that and back tho, ripping and changing molecular structure).

I dont like how aliens always have perfect humanoid form.. even the bad guys have human form. just weird nose and teeth. blee.
Let the aliens be aliens. extra arms. feets. heads. eyes... ever played SPORE ?

if they are gonna use humanoid alien forms. atleast have some kind of Star gate background. its atleast somewhat possible to see humanoid forms then.

I have to agree! Seems that I wrote the movie myself, as i predict, 99% of the time what is going to happen anyway. it's all the same lol! Although, not sure what people thought about Now you See me, but I enjoyed that out of all the most recent movies the most.
Nothing fancy, but a work in progress!

Depends if you just want a formula that does work on you, though?

If so, how can you knock some other formula for being a formula - when you just want the same thing (the only difference being one that works on you)?

I guess it just seems unfulfilling to realize that a major movie with a $200 million budget is essentially a Mad Lib, filling in the exact same movie from 6 months ago with different specifics, only to watch it become a smash hit because the formula is designed to manipulate the audience's emotions with surgical precision.
