Towcar's Project: ~Created~

Have a project in the works but not much media? How about an idea you are turning into a project? Maybe a game design document you want to start with. This is the place.

Towcar's Project: ~Created~

Post by towcar »

Pre-Note
As you may before known, I worked on Rockstar Mmo, well an unexpected turn has come before me. I'm tired of working with Realmcrafter and I am moving on. The markets are also harder with an indie mmo and its very uncost effective to complete a mmorpg unless fully successful. My next act towards game development is with "Unity", and not I don't mean team work. I mean the Engine, which I will start a new FPS Project.

I would like to apoligise in advance, my notes aren't the most organised and proffesioned, but like an excited school girl, I had to share what I had ha
--Also the following is taken directly from my developer notes on my desktop--

Title: To be Decided :P

Storyline:
Scientists developing new life, Succeed, and Fail. They create life, thats very hostile and intellegent, they feed on human flesh. They break loose multiplying, and developing stronger species. They must be stopped before the whole world is reduced to rubble.

Starting: In a small town with a military base after much of the world is reduced to a small fraction remaining. The military look to a top secret option that very few intel knew of. Project Warrior...
You were a military legend back 50 years ago, you were frozen at the end of the 3rd world war. To be re-commanding another day. That day has come, while the world is at its more desired need for a hero. You are summoned.

Basically all I have are design notes and models of the first level, screenshots to be updated.

Sounds like an interesting project towcar. Will keep an eye out for more information/screenshots :D

I've also given up on trying to make an MMO for while and decided to go with T3D. I would've gone with Unity but I need to get used to coding and I can get Torque for only $650

Good luck on your project!

Sounds good so far :)

And yes, MMORPGs, even with supposed "user-friendly" engines is a massive amount of work, if for no other reason than all of the art assets that have to be made. Unless you have a full team of 10 talented modelers working on it with you (or you are buying in a lot of it), you are probably looking at a couple of years just for the modeling.

Interesting storyline, sounds like something I would definitely want to play - if anything I could suggest to help is to try and stray away from too many cliche ideas. Have a good solid thought on the storyline and where you want to take it - then its good fun from there :D

I love unity. I am kind of disappointed though, I really wanted to see the rockstar mmo.

Glad to see alot of replies.
@Sakar - T3D was my other option, but I tried the demo of Unity, it was cheaper and I liked how smooth things worked and the interface organization.
@Jack-o-latern - Exactly, and Rockstar mmo was just a test of the gameplay, and my other game needed lots of modeling which would be a year alone
@Agent - Well I don't have an xbox 360 or Ps3 so I haven't seen alot of common cliche ideas :p Could you give an example of a few?
@Noctrine - Yeah me too, if Realmcrafter hadn't been such a bugger I could have had easily it ready by now. I had it all implented, just need to test before releasing to make sure it all basically works. But it wouldn't let me test either...
@Viper - Glad that wasn't forgotten, yea I had alot done in that... but its the experiences that count
@Noctrine (Again) - Your Rockstar Project? You have my attention :P

Soon I'll get screenshots, I've been reading alot of game development thoughts, and ideas in level and game design, thats really changed my angle of percpective in designing this, so I think it'll be good. Also I'm not used to being able to use alot more polys in my models, so that'll be a change

1st Update:
Finished modeling the Buildings in the First Level
1/2 texturing :)
First Level Game Play succesfully and fully written!

I don't quite understand your response. But to make it clear, I am not saying your idea is fully cliche - just has a few rough edges so to speak - the whole freezing hero deal especially - in terms of an example that would be it - hints a little to Halo if you know what I mean. And that is not necessarily bad, stick with it - but make sure you develop the storyline, give it all some background and depth and such things are overcome. Goodluck. Let us know when we can play the first level :D

Ok I see your point, I don't have a jumpsuit planned for the main guy if that helps :P and I didn't know there was freezing the hero in halo? Also there isn't anything about space. Still just on earth.

Update:
More Brain Storming lol
Wrote some background story to be later implented into the game
Finished Modeling and Texture Level 1

Screenshots of Update

Edit: THere is alot bad textureing you can see, but the player will only see the black roof and the inside of the garage over there. The rest is the outsides
