Goofing with impact

Have a project in the works but not much media? How about an idea you are turning into a project? Maybe a game design document you want to start with. This is the place.

Goofing with impact

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

Since I bought HTML 5 Impact Engine I thought I would share some of my progress.

http://indie-resource.com/impact/index.html

May have to refresh if it says failed to find page. Only happened to me once and it was right after I uploaded so could have been not everything was uploaded.

I am still working on sharpening the graphics. WASD keys to walk around.

Very nice! And I didn't have to refresh.

I bought Impact JS as well, but haven't had the time to really dig into it, although I have been meaning to. Right now I am kind of mixing working on PHP frameworks and re-learning Java (since I am hoping to get an Android tablet in the next couple of weeks, but it has been so long since I have used Java).

Worked on firefox for me as well! Looks cool (though I'd like the dude to move quicker, but I understand if that's for some DB reason you might have latter on). I thought HTML5 was some sort of IE only thing right now?

Heck no, matter of fact IE is behind the most with HTML5. HTML5 is the future.

I am adding a sprint while holding shift ;) Got a whole game planned out. Can finally do planetary wars like i have wanted. owning a ship and exploring the universe, harvesting, mining, lumbering, fighting, building an empire ect..

i think i just loaded up too fast is why i got the initial issue. Really loving this engine.

Word to the wise though this is NOT a push button engine. There is serious coding involved. Classes, functions, and major Javascript.

Yeah, definitely some coding to do. However, from what I have seen, their entity system helps keep things nicely organized, which has always been a problem in Javascript due to being prototype-based instead of OO.

As far as the demo, it is looking good! However, the collision boxes on the zone objects and the walls are a bit too big, though.

Did you make this in the Weltmeister map editor?
