Why would you have to pay for Facebook? I wouldn't ever pay for something to have advertisements shoved down my throat. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

I agree with Halls. People really are gullible. The entire foundation of Facebook, and any other social networking site, depends on the fact that it is free. This way you attract fringe users who would never in a million years pay for the service, but make one because "..well, why the heck not?" That is why it has 500 million accounts. If it was a subscription service, they would be lucky to have 10 million, and then the entire fabric of Facebook would begin to fall apart as people could not find anyone they know.
