Spotify, how a music player is meant to be :P

Post by Falken »

For those that missed this, or are in the US.

Spotify released their new client today with Facebook integration and possibility to play all your local files too.

Here is a video of new features, altho seems so far seems you have to update manually on their website.

And for those that doesn't heard of spotify, it is a music stream service, that is free and legal. They got tons of music and deals with all big companies and hell lot of small ones. You can also buy the MP3 direct in the client. And if you pay $10/month you can run the player on your phone and also access all music while offline.

Used it for about 1-2 years, and since almost first day been my only source for music :D . If you missed it check it out at http://www.spotify.com (Free accounts requires invites, but those are easy to find on the internet). Currently only available in 10 european countries, think US launch is scheduled for after the summer.

Been using it for a while too. Before Spotify came around I mostly downloaded my music illegally through torrents, now I never do that anymore, I just start Spotify :D Miss out some high profiled music (like AC/DC, Metallica, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, The Beatles etc), but still is enough music to cover my needs :P

Just read they started testing it in the US now: http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/29/swit ... the-cloud/

And they say you can listen 20hours/month free, but if you get an invite (which is not too hard) you can actually listen to all music for free as much as you want :D

I got tired of the so called commercials (actually more like self-promoting, talking about "new" features that made it into the player over a year ago :p ), and now I pay about $8-9 a month to listen to music without commercials or interruptions as much as I want :)

Has anyone mentioned yet that they have released Spotify open where you can listen to 20hrs of music a month for free, with no invites needed?
