is youtube to leanient?

browsing around on youtube as you do, watchin a few tuts n stuff...

then i came accross a tutorial on how to hack someones computer.

is it just me or is that abit stupid.

it shows someone gaining illigal access to another persons computer, the tools he uses and how to use them... shows a series of usernames used on the machine, and the contents of this blokes HDD.

also in the comments it has people openly admit they dos attack etc.

at what point does youtube sorta stop and think, 'ok maybe this video really shouldnt be up here'

i have seem some pretty shocking shit on there, but this, and videos of kids kicking the crap out of other kids really does take the piss.

anyone else think this? or am i just being petty?

i agree, they have became way too lax. Especially with the spam bots posting all over "Watch this movie at blahblah dot com" I hacked my Wii through watching videos on youtube.

I think you tube would argue that they dont control wat users upload, on take action wen its flagged up as sumat bad.

yes but youtube are publisising illigal activities for public viewing. they are held responsable for broadcasting the material.

it shouldnt be the viewers job to moderate the videos. it should be youtubes

I actually think YouTube has become much more strict lately. They are finally upholding copyrights on music that people use in their videos, as you will see some videos are silent and have a notice that the music was a violation.

They just get far too many videos to screen them themselves, so they can really only react after it is flagged. But the people searching for that video are obviously not going to flag it because they do the same thing.

EDIT: I just looked at a few of these, and all the ones I saw were complete BS, and having the viewer download an executable to "help them hack" that was surely a keylogger, trojan, or something else that was simply going to infect their computer. Let the morons try it

I have actually seen it worse in the past. I don't know if the spammers are getting limited returns for their effort, or if YouTube has stepped up their efforts. But about a year or two ago, any video that had over about 200k views would be targeted, and would get a spam post every minute or so. I have not seen anything like that in a while. Don't get me wrong, though, it is still definitely a problem. I wonder how they are getting around the captcha. Even I can't read YouTube's images sometimes

i know, captcha is to me the stupidest method of anti-bot. It doesn't work well at all and leaves to much in there to be hacked. Nothing is better than a picture. Placing a pic of several things then having somewhere in the pic a simple math problem is the best way. Or having multiple things in a pic and asking for a color of a certain item.

For there legal protection to work, they can't actively moderate it. And even then, active moderation of the billions of comments, and millions of videos they receive daily would be near impossible without taking on a large amount of spam.

Blanket regulation of content always fails (which is why Copywritten stuff always passes through there filters)
