VB.net and ASP.net

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

Curious why you don't see more web games made with vb.net and asp.net. Seems like they would be a good platform for game development.

I've been looking at using ASP.Net, might try moving some of your video code over to it. I think the biggest problem is just that ASP.Net is difficult to setup efficiently (have to pre-compile it, ugh) and not all webhosts support it.

EDIT: Forgot the a not :)

I studied VB.net at college, it's a good platform, but it's not the best platform for building a game. You can make interesting things, but I found it fairly limited and harder in comparison to other platforms.

This is an old thread. I made another thread since then with a fairly lengthy explanation as to why web games aren't made with ASP.NET.
