IRC, Please, God Please.

Post by RolsenRoyce »

I have been looking for a community on the IRC for weeks, but there are no one :(
Maybe we should set up a channel on undernet, quakenet or something?
My own progress is ... not good, and I feel it would flux better if I'd hang around other people working on this.

I hope someone know what this is, too many people use new-age comms :( when IRC works perfectly well.

i personally love IRC and if we had enough people that would use it I could set us up our own server.

I feel that the community is too small for IRC, there is usually only 1 person on at a time (when I check that one person is me  ). But maybe if you set it up some people would like that idea of IRC and start to join the community?

mIRC is good for the client, Quakenet is a pretty good host.

You can integrate the IRC chatroom straight into the forums too, though, which would allow for easier access since people wouldn't have to download a client and set everything up.

...Whered you hear that from..?

Looks pretty free to me. You then use mIRC to connect to one of the servers, such as quakenet or whatever, where you can start your own channel.

EDIT: I Take that back..they changed it to 30 days free apparently. However, if anyone really wanted it theres ways around it of course, but a client in the forums would be an easier solution for the mass population anyway.

Okay, why don't we all agree on a network.
Throw in some ideas for channel names and I will turn the thread into a poll, set a date and we all rush in.

edit: polling networks for now...

To give people the idea of what IRC is... this is it:

I am using mIRC 6.34 with NoName script
http://nnscript.esnation.com/download.php?id=31 mIRC client
http://nnscript.esnation.com/download.php?id=30 Script
This is a very complete package, it manages everything I need like logs, service logins, away replies, auto this and auto that, got a lot of color schemes too if you want a bigger e-penis.
mIRC lasts forever, it has only a nag screen if you do not pay, I have been using it for over a thousand days, the startup nag does not bother me, since I never turn off my computer.
