password error

Ok i have just ran across a problem and i have seen a few other people on here have problems with this but not it this way.

I have a fresh install from the video 13 files. It works perfect just as it is suppose to. except for one little detail.

I had my wife try to register. She did and it went through its in the database. but when she tries to log in it says she has the wrong password.

So i tried registering a new user. Worked fine was able to log in and everything. Had my wife try and again and she couldnt. She claims my computer hates her. So i tried a bunch of random signups. Some did not work. Most did but there are some that wont work.

Some of the samples i tried were test/test which works. Hi/me does not. test7/tester does not work either.

any idea why there is a problem with some of these. I havent found a pattern yet myself.

Does your wife have a ', ", or similair symbol it can in some cases cause those kind of troubles, but that depends on the code, I haven't read halls code...

I am sorry that you are having this problem. I am glad you brought this up though as it has gave me another thing to look into.

I have not come up with an answer, sorry.

What I have seem to find out is: If you are using wamp, then it seem I am having trouble with the encrypting. I am unable to login with any encrypted password that begins with a letter. Any encrypted password that begins with a number works fine.

yeah i started seeing that was a pattern a on this machine too ....i was going to upload it to one of my online hosting accounts to see if the problem remained there or if it was just a problem with wamp......

of course then my router crashed so i have been working on that. Now that it is working here goes the test.

ok i got it up on my site. the usernames that werent working before are still now working but all of the new ones i have tried are working online so i guess the problem lies with wamp somehow

this is weird. I have never had this problem and I use wamp daily and even simulated 1000 people registering in with a script a couple months back. Of course I didnt test them all but all worked that i tested. you are not using any special tags? hve you wife try something really simple like
username: joe
password: joe

Well yes one of the test ones i did after i uploaded it began with a letter and it worked.

So i am just stumped.

I ran into the problem today for the first time. My test user....i always use got permadisabled or something. I made and deleted him probably 20 times today and now i get the password error every time i make him. Always same pass, name, and email then suddenly poof, not working anymore. However if I enter a different mock user it works fine lol
