Makerbot - from open source to closed source

Makerbot is a total shame and goes against everything that your parents try and teach you. One good example is not to lie (making it open source then closing it on the people that helped you make it). They even go as low as to put patents on other peoples stuff and call it their own. I have found a couple of places that explain what I'm trying to explain and hit the nail on the head. I've been looking more and more on the opensource 3D printing projects out of curiosity.
