Windows 8 tablet?

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

SO how many people are using one regularly and how much development are you doing on one? I am not talking RT either. I am looking at buying one but want to make sure I can still do some development comfortably on it.

When you say you want to do development, you will really want a keyboard. At least as a dock. I reviewed a ton of Windows tablets about a year ago, and in the end decided to go with a touchscreen ultrabook instead, since I figured I would be using it very little in tablet form. My wife got the Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro (I think it may have been called something else in the US, but the name was more generic and mostly relied on the model number, which I forgot). She has been happy with it. The only caveat is that the actual PC components are in the display, so when it is docked in the keyboard the screen can't be leaned back a ton or it will fall backwards, therefore it is locked to only go so far back. But it is incredibly light (only a bit heavier than the older model iPads) and has an i5 processor, 4gb RAM, 128gb SSD and WACOM digitizer with pen.

walk into a best buy and look at the windows tablets sections vs the ipad section. It is so crazy how fast and big windows tablets have grown. In my local best buy the apple products are in a small dark corner and windows is glowing
