IE 11 blow away everything else
Hi,
Just to say that if you still have windows 7, you can install IE 11 Release Preview.... and enjoy a speed which is incredible. Even compared to chrome, IE 11 is faster while trying my cubicverse. Much faster. Also the included javascript profiler seems to works for once, neither FF nor Chrome found really the function which was using time. So I must say I'm extremely impressed by what Microsoft delivers for once.

Wow... Apple releases iOS 7 and it appears to be buggy and crashing a lot of apps from early reports
Microsoft releases IE 11 and it's actually good?
Is this Bizarro World or something?

Well, I never liked apple and their products... always too much concentrated on the look more than the content. Yet Microsoft did a lot of good stuff, sure not all is perfect but for example visual studio is certainly the best IDE you could use. .NET and C# are certainly one of the most advanced framework and language (yes it works only on windows). On the other side, Ribbons? Windows 8 Metro? Windows phone? sorry not all that good

I had a huge post about why I will never give IE the light of day but it is better not to post it. I am glad they are finally starting to catch up but it is too late for me. I will never use IE.

If IE 11 is no longer a core item of the O/S, then maybe.
But as so long as it is core, then it provides a direct vector of attack into the O/S.

Doesn't change much if it is distributed with the OS or not. Safari is. Chrome (or the reduced browser) with android. So why should Microsoft not distribute IE? Also, it was never really part of the core. Simply it was used by many other components like the help which honestly do make sense.
BTW being distributed with the OS or not, a browser as it contact other sites can always be a vector of attack. As well as any other part of your system checking other sites... News... Emails... and whatever else.

Re: IE 11 blow away everything else
I am really hoping for a independant company to come along and smoke them all. One that utilizes the idea of all downloads, scripts, images, files, ect are all truly run through the browser and never touches the OS. In other words anything run through it has no channel to the os or any files whatsoever. It is a OS in itself that runs on top of any OS so as nothing can truly harm your computer. Now I know people want to download stuff to their OS and that is why it would have modes. For my parents I could turn on this mode and no more spyware or virus's.
Something new and out of the box idea that will stop all this garbage instantly. A browser that works around the community reporting good and bad sites, work safe sites, ect...

I can't stand IE and won't even look at it
But hey, if it's better than the garbage they've put out in the past, good for them.

Really? I thought IE 10+ was Windows 8 only. Interesting.a_bertrand wrote:Just to say that if you still have windows 7, you can install IE 11 Release Preview
And just as a tiny side note, when I heard the announcement of iOS 7's new visual look, I could not help to think of Windows Phone 7/8 OS. Their two biggest additions to iOS 7, graphically at least, are transition animations and parallax scrolling background. Which happen to be 2 of the pillars of the WP# visual look.
