I'm not a resident of Arizona, but I know my statistics.
Phoenix is not so costly, it's fairly reasonable in terms of its cost of living. For a few years after 2008, the Phoenix metro area suffered a lot from the financial crash; especially the real estate market. Now the homes down there are booming and slowly increasing in demand. Now is a good time to buy a home in Phoenix (in a good area of course). It's very dry and hot, be prepared. IF you are comfortable with this: they have many Mexicans too. There can be dust storms in Phoenix too. Other than that, it's A-OK. Many old Jewish people tend to retire in Phoenix (mainly in Sun City where the rich are and in Paradise Valley which is even richer).

The cost of living in Witchita is affordable, but the job outlook is not too good; all across the Midwest it isn't. Beware: they do get yearly tornados.

Thanks!

Not worried about job market though, got that all lined up. More curious about quality of life and stuff. Looks like it is more Wichita now.

I knew someone who lived in Kansas for a couple of years, and they said the tornadoes were just unbelievable. You find yourself running down into your tornado cellar pretty much every couple days during the main season.

Phoenix Arizona ...

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain,
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain,
La, la ...

I would probably prefer Phoenix just because I don't like natural disasters lol. Pretty much every region has one or another, but I can deal with droughts. I am not a huge fan of tornadoes and hurricanes.
