Modding Anyone?

Post by neronix17 »

Hey all, been a while again since I was last on here to be honest, got a little sidetracked with a good many things and totally lost track of any online communities so thought a new topic to get back on here with is modding. Since I haven't seen much on here about it, I know this forum is more for the indie games and such but modding is surely a massive part of the game development/design process? Both for the people who create the games and those who mod them?

I personally have 3 pretty large mods in process for a couple games, 2 for Skyrim(SkyFi and SoT-TC) and 1 for Sins of a Solar Empire(not public yet). Just sort of curious if anyone on here is involved in the modding scene? Seems like some would be since it is sort of a stepping stone to game creation, in some cases might as well BE game creation. If anyone is into modding then I'd be happy to help out with things, I'm a one man dev team for the three mods I have running (you'd think it would be a lot to handle but I get bored doing one at a time  ) so I use pretty much all aspects of modding through modeling/texturing/scripting (skyrim mostly)/etc.

Been modding games since Morrowind came out on PC but most active with Skyrim since it has been so flexible for most of the ideas I want to put into a game, so I am used to using it but still new to a lot of things. Feel like I am just ranting now, i really need to learn when to stop typing but I can't, I know I am typing too much already but I can't stop myself from going on, and on, and on, and on... Yeah I'm a little crazy.
This isnt just a gimp mask...This is an S&M gimp mask...

I have never really been into 3D game development, but if I was, game modding would be a great place to start or even stay. Mods can be any scale from a simple addition to the original game to an entirely different game, and they can all be tested immediately. It is about the only thing where even your first small project will be displayed in full-color as a 3D game! That can really count for a lot when you think about all of the boring console calculator programs people make when learning development lol.
