Hey guys,
I'm Lucius Nitewing (alias for now :P). I found this site through a Google search for indie web frameworks; so I looked around and liked what I saw. :)
Anyways I've been a closed person for a really long time. During this time I had the delusion that programming would be easy as pie. After several years of off and on programming attempts and many many failed or abandoned projects, I came to a realization that developing any type of software whether it be a game or not takes a lot of work. Back then I was one of those people that said it was too much work and left it alone.
Well a year or two I had the urge to get back into programming and chose game programming although I still wasn't too serious about it. Recently however I've decided to take indie developing more seriously and stick to the projects to the very end whether they are successful at that time or not. At least I'll learn something along the way. :)
This looks like a great and nice community, so here I am going to try to turn over a new leaf so to speak. I've watched Halls' videos over PBBG's and even though they are fairly old, they were a great refresher for me over the PHP/MySQL basics.

glad to have you and many of us here have went or are going through the same as you. Creating any piece of useful software can be a daunting task. Just got to stick with it and remember the more issues you have the more you learn.

Welcome!
I have gone through the same thing. Finally I had to come to a realization about the scale of my projects, and finally found wisdom in the whole "start small and scale up" view that is so common in programming. Just making something small just to finish something is often a great first move. Now how small depends on where you are in your learning. For a PHP/HTML RPG, Halls' tutorial series is a great starting point, and then work on expanding it

My previous philosophy of "go big or go home" was the bane of my developing existence.
Well I still use it from time to time but not very often. I do agree that Halls' tutorials are a great starting point however. I wish I had found them back when they started, would of been much easier on me.
I was looking into frameworks for faster developing with the MVC pattern. However now that I think about it, I'm probably trying to over complicate things again for now. I think I'll take the simpler Halls' path but adapted to an object oriented way
Almost forgot, I'll post my current thoughts for my project shortly. I'm guessing it will go into the Project Showoff Tier I category?

Sanity is vastly overrated!
