Today I read the lyrics and wow how they point to so much of my interest in going back to the kit and redeveloping FS. How we all have that one game that defines us much like many musicians always have that one song that defines their career.
I was reading the lyrics for the first time and it is amazing where one can find inspiration in the world around them,
The world of Forsaken Sanctum has always been calling to me...No matter how much other development I do, that world calls me... against all that I fight to tell myself a simple shooter is easier or puzzle game...the world of the of a living breathing world calls me back. That world is calling
So I'm crawling back to sea
Against the surge of waves that
Held us in that ancient grip beneath
Retreat to safer waters
Chaos has been the father of destruction in so many of my games. No one cares about that world and the times I spent on it like I do. I have abandoned so much of my time in honor of that world yet I shut the door on it to only claim a game with less is so much more when in all truth it might not be.Still learning what chaos kills
But whoever cares, nobody cares like you do
Why we'd abandon time, just shut the door
Why we'd go to the wall, claim less is more
I could build it and get mocked about graphics, game play whatever but the truth of it is I am a game developer living in a sea of accomplished games. I will never meet the expectations of everyone. So be a fish and swim in the sea of your choosing. Stop thinking the next course of learning and development will be or what you need to complete your next game. Sometimes we have to swim upstream or against the current to accomplish a seemingly impossible goal.Well I won't pretend to lie
Once more protect my blinded sight
You'd say
For I came from a fish you mock the place where I exist and live.
So I hope this helps to inspire others as it has for me. Funny how a song I have been listening to for years comes across with a meaning now when I realize what I have been wanting to build for years.
