Spam Bots

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

I have grow sick of the spam bots so time to fix it. I kept wondering how they were getting past some of my any-bot stuff and now I read they can use UCP files a part of templates not even set! If you just have them in the directory they can use them.

Not sure if it is correct so i deleted all the styles except this one and we will give it a shot.

If we still get bots today or tomorrow then I will start over on my ant bot and set some new ones up. Please report new bots here. Remember some may have already got in and just waiting to post.

I'm sick of them too, the last few weeks there has nearly been at least one every day. Maybe we could do something with the registration system to make it more difficult for them to sign up. That should be a quick fix to the situation.

I currently have that in place and it worked 100% for a long time until all of a sudden they were getting past it. I think it has to do with bypassing it with another template. We will see soon enough.

1 a day for PHPBB isn't bad though :)
