Joomla! and PhPBB?
Joomla! and PhPBB?
So... Let me get this straight. We here are all Programmers and we are using Joomla! and PhPBB3? Yes the site looks good (I couldn't tell we were using these until after I investigated a bit) But Shouldn't we make it our own? Maybe if we all took a part of it we could get it done. So, Post any Ideas...

The reason I am using the two is I do not have time to fool with building a site. I WILL NOT use or create a custom forums however. PHPBB3 is more than anyone needs and to me it does not make sense to build a custom one.
I am all for a custom website however. I also have a wiki installed.

Yes, I actually like PhPBB too. I use it for almost all of my forums. I only suggested that In case someone actually had already made a good one. And I think we could pull of a custom site with a CMS. (Speaking of which, I messaged you back in December about me helping update the news etc. and you said you would set me up to do that but I never heard a response)

Another of the Golden Rules of Programming is don't re-invent the wheel. Just because you can make something doesn't mean you should spend the months to make something that is almost as passable as what is already available. A handful of programmers can't compete with a popular, global, open source project that likely has hundreds or thousands of contributors.
