Request: Whole Website Template Theme + Graphics

Post by Chromeozone »

Hello IR,
How are all my fellow Delopers?

This post is to ask someone out there who has the power to make a Website design for my self for a 3D MMORPG Pirate Game!
Your name will go into the Credits when completed!!!
Infomations you may want to see.

1. Budget Range

Nothing, becuase we are not funded, and or do not get payed this is a team effort

2. Project Details

We do not have any content copy or Images at the moment and we are also looking for someone in the Graphics route.
We would love it if you could make the Website dark and spooky like a real pirate game would be and we do need a Logo designed.
We do not need any web hosting services because we own our own domain @ http://www.darkseaadventures.com
Links should Include and should be as followed - Home - Register - Login - Rules & TOS - Forum - Support
In the footer there should be Copyright 2011-2012 Ultimatium Gaming
Design by "Who ever made the website"

3. Time Frame
As you can see on http://www.darkseaadventures.com it says 140 days remaining we need the website live in the background before this so we can have as much time to edit, remove and improve our website but if you are busy and require some time as Graphics and Website Designer will need to talk and intergrate the website structure the Latest point we need the website is done is by the end of Decemeber

4. Visual Examples
Some Websites what we like and recomend you use
http://www.dogsoftheseas.com
http://piratesonline.go.com/welcome
http://www.runescape.com

What we like about these websites is that they are clear, the designs are good and it gives you a clear understanding of what the website will be about.

If you know of any other websites which are pirate, fantasy or medievil and look good you may use them for REF

5. Target Audience

Our target auidence is aimed at people between 13-30
This means the website needs to be built specifically for this type of audience in attracting them into the game and website it self, and making them feel that they want to explore the website further and thus pay money for Items in the game and or even donate to us, as we are using our own money for this it would be very nice if they donated to us.

Thanks for reading this and i hope a Website Developer and a Graphics designer agree to take this on and create a lovely baby ;)

There are people out there that will do it for free for the experience or the extra line on their resume. You would be surprised.

Yeah, but if you're a professional company trying to get into a market, you're not going to use some badly put together product made by some random person for free.

A professional will know exactly what to do. If you want to make profit you nearly always have to make a sacrifice first. A real indie developer would study everything and do it himself to get a proper idea of what the goals of a project are.

For example if you want a template to be put together that will attract people to your game you would need to study the market, whether this be yourself or a professional, you need someone who knows the interests of the people visiting your website to make sure you can maximize profit. If you want to have a game template made you would want to use real in-game models, sprites and screen shots to give people an atmosphere of actually playing the game before they even start. There are a lot of other areas that would have to be studied. An indie developer studies all these aspects himself and does all his work in trade for his time. A company trades money to do this.

So that my replies don't come over as too much of a rant. If you don't want to make something in the trade for your own time, I'm advising you to pay a professional to get a template made rather than ask someone to do it for free. Posting topics like this will not only make your company come over unprofessional but will also give you a lack of motivation to continue with the product when it doesn't work out the way you want it. Even though it costs a bit of money, if it's done properly and professionally there's nearly no chance you won't make a turn over in the end.

In the end it's always about the quality to price ratio. If you have a high quality product you can in turn charge more for it and chances are people will love it. If you have a low quality product, you first cannot charge as much for it, and most likely will never maximize the capable profit to be earned.

When hiring professionals you would need to make contracts first to protect your ideas and to make sure the product turns out the way you want it. Generally the project leader takes a role in the quality inspection. If you hire any random person without doing it professionally you're running a risk of loosing all your ideas to another company that will take them and come out with your product before you do. There is also nothing you can do about this because there were no contracts signed, etc. When hiring a professional and when you have signed documents, the law is always there to back you up. As a CEO of a company this is one of the most important things you should know.

I`m totally with Chris on this one and it sounds weird, but Chris and I are both Dutch, so that should give you a fair warning as to how we think about money, we rather not spend a dime more then necessary..

But it`s true, quality products are never free of charge, ever. Period. Most of the quality "free" products have a catch, either licensing, or maybe open source, or a market share in earnings. Although, admittedly that last one never really works, no real professional will, free-of-charge, create an awesome product in the hopes of making a solid earnings later on without at least some garantuees.

The thing in common with the 3 websites you give as examples is that they all have extremely simple designs that use AAA, world-class illustrations as their main visual impact. It can definitely be possible to have someone design the HTML and CSS for your website, and even have them make some vector art, gradients, etc. for the site, but I don't know if anyone can make full-color illustrations like those for you for free.

What about some others sites that are more webdesign-oriented that don't involve such a heavy reliance on illustrations?
