Hello all,
first i want to say, sorry for my english, i'm dutch XD and i can speak english but not 100% =p
So i've been working on a game, it's not finished yet but this game was basicly to learn things,
i learned some new things by making this game.
So i made this basic game with skills you can train (woodcutting, mining, fishing) and i was going to add a combat system too
and you can travel from city to city and it all just works with a timer, when u click on woodcutting and you got an axe, you will see a timer with 60 seconds counting down, when it's at 0 you will get 1 log.. so that's how the skill works
a combat system isn't there yet...
Should I make an official game like that? And put it online? Do you think people would like to play it?
Because I want to start again from the beginning (since this game was just to learn things, so it's a messy code..)
but i'm not going to start on a game nobody would player..
Well.. actually here is the question, would you play it?
again sorry for my english.. :p
Should i continue?
Should i continue?

You could release the game as an alpha version or something and see how people like it. Then with the feedback you get rewrite it and see what you can make it into.
Fighting for peace is declaring war on war. If you want peace be peaceful.

I think instead of a timer it'd be better to have energy points or something which are collected over real time, then you spend those to lumber or whatever and it just happens instantly.
That or if your going to have a timer, have a chat room right next to it so people talk while they wait.

Yeah, I am highly anti-wait-timer. It just makes for a bad mechanic in my opinion since waiting isn't fun. Instead, how about having a limited number of logging nodes in the world, and when a player chooses to log a node, they can get 0 - 4 logs, with 0 being fairly common, 1 a bit more common than 0, 2 being common-to-uncommon, 3 being very uncommon, and 4 being very rare (or they could possibly even get a rare item instead of 4 logs). That way it adds a bit of excitement to the logging since it creates somewhat of a "slot-machine" mechanic to it, where a player may get nothing, they may get a jackpot, or they may get something in between. Instead of a forced wait timer, the limiting factors to the lumber obtained would be finding nodes in the world, and the fact that many nodes will give no lumber.

i'm just going to start over, and make it more secure, because it really wasn't, i will post it here, so you guys can test it
EDIT: ohh yeah uhm, could someone make me just a small basic layout? Because i suck at creating layouts, and mostly you have to pay for layouts, but i don't have money.. =p So it would be nice if someone could make it for me =D
And does anyone have a good idea for a game name? =D
I was thinking about Skillaria or something but isn't that stupid? >.>
so i just started with: http://gamedev.comuf.com, working on the login and register and the other basic features now =p
