I'm working on a project in the Unity engine - it's me and one other person for now and I am wanting to set up a wiki that we can both access, or that I can access from multiple locations, but I don't want anything public. In fact, I'd prefer if the web search bots not even be able to find it, just to keep it private.
How is the best way to set up a private wiki for just the two of us to use? Set up a site and password it? Or is there a better way?
Setting up a private wiki?
Re: Setting up a private wiki?
You can allow certain IP addresses to access it. Redirect to some other page if IP does not equal your IP addresses.
Re: Setting up a private wiki?
I've decided to just go ahead and get a good webhost - figure I can password protect everything to keep what I want private.
Been researching and looking at the current ones getting good reviews. I pretty well narrowed my list down to DreamHost or BlueHost. Anyone have anything better? I'd like a host with wiki capabilities, forums, subversion (which I'm not sure BlueHost has), plus one that is reliable. Anyone using anything good that they'd recommend?

That could get complicated if accessing from home and the inevitable dynamic IP. Probably the easiest way is a password, as he mentioned. A modern wiki package should already have that functionality built in and ready to go. Most users just tend not to use it since accessibility is a prime component to successful public-facing wikis.Xaleph wrote:You can allow certain IP addresses to access it. yep you can create groups as well. Like our Wiki(which is never used) is integrated through the forum accounts here(because I rock socks) and I can setup groups and permissions.
