yeah and if he used a windows based PC he could afford enough ram to make it work fast and probably get more out of it. $200 for the Microphone..he could have bought a quad core, 8 gig PC kit for $200. hehehe.

let me also say PC has had this for a very long time. It is just text to speech commands. B. Gates presented this with his house of the future like 10 years ago. If you can get your light to turn off via computer then you could have done this 10 years ago on a PC.

Thats true! I forgot Bill Gates basically has his home wired up like this. It monitors websites, controls lighting and TV usage based on time of day, makes him coffee, reminds him to make calls, and on and on.

However, what may make this unique could be the cost of Jarvis. Obviously Bill Gates can wire up and do anything he wants in his own home because he can just throw money at it. The real test is if you can get it cheap and small enough to be a boxed kit that people could afford at Best Buy.

well what i meant is this tech has existed so long that is very cheap. A windows PC can do it right now, all you have to do is wire it to whatever you want to control. They sell USB switches on the Internet right now.

My point is these whacked out Mac users. As soon as someone does something on a Mac it becomes a huge deal. Even if the tech has existed for years and is usually 10x the price of a PC version.

I think the interest is that it goes beyond home appliances and interfaces with the user's entire online identity, creating one central hub for both the user's physical and digital world. It is neat, but honestly, it kind of freaks me out, too. You are basically creating one single system that if compromised, would allow a malicious user to hijack your entire life.

Anyway, what`s wrong with a closed system for this? No danger to that right? How about some cheap microphones all trough the house? Mics cost like 30cents if you are them in China. A little linux machine, completely silent, install the software and now all you need is something to plug in to your power supply.. Wait, that sounds tricky.. Hmm anyway, I really like the video, I was planning on doing something similiar one day.. one day...
