If you haven't recently heard about these gentlemen they recently hacked the senate and the CIA and FBI and DDoS'd many sites including these government official sites. The FBI had declared a war on them and sent security teams to take them down, but, failed. They post a ton of things on their twitter and they hacked 60,000 email accounts and passwords and released them to the public. http://twitter.com/#!/LulzSec
What is your take on this whole situation?

I hope they are caught, fined, thrown in Jail with a man named bubba who uses the word fist as a verb. Then after years of painful behind booty they are scratched up and tossed in the ocean with a bunch of hungry sharks looking to tease their meals before eating them.
There is no excuse for hurting your own nation or stealing. The very least their hands should be cut off.

Hahaha yes I agree but now they are creating world-wide sub companies of hackers called Anti-Sec which they attack Brazil today and are spreading throughout the world quickly.hallsofvallhalla wrote:I hope they are caught, fined, thrown in Jail with a man named bubba who uses the word fist as a verb. Re: Lulzsec
Wow... If they are really working that large scale, they are gonna be in some big trouble with a lot of countries... But hey, maybe this is what we need, a common enemy that all countries can be mad at, regardless of where they are from! Our countries can unite to take this group down! Or maybe not...

Re: Lulzsec
They kill people for this in Brazil. Let them hack other countries. It is their own funeral. They WILL be caught if they haven't already. They might be a false group to bring attention off something else.
Re: Lulzsec
Heheh i think they are doing a good job. True, it`s criminal and yes, they should not have posted personal data, however, dispite that, they do expose giant leaps in security. They showed major security leaks in different systems before they became a news article.
But they do it for fun. Besides, I don`t agree on the new cyber security bill where all (attempted) attacks on the internet infrastructure is considered an act of war. It makes no sense. They do it all the time, this time, they got beaten by a group of like minded individuals with no criminal intent to do it. And don`t get me wrong, I don`t like the fact they exposed the 60k list of emails+pass, it`s not good. However, there`s a big if.
The if is, they admitted they did it. Global coorperations do it all the time. It`s booming business. They didn`t use it for personal gain, they did it to show a major security leak.
Oh, and there`s also the argument that most people never ever read the terms of anything. It`s like, leave your car in front of my house or on my property, however, don`t get mad at me if it`s getting stolen. It`s up to the user to secure their password, same goes for the website offering the accounts. If you store your passwords as simple text, you ask for it. You had it coming. I hope the 60k users are not only pressing charges against lulzSec, but the site where they got it from too.
Anyway, there`s much to say about them, but I really hope they continue doing what they are doing. It shows how important passwords are, password protection is and above all, where security leaks are.
Oh and one more thing, the CIA site and the Gov. site weren`t really hacked. They were DDOS`d. Which basically means they crashed the server. There`s a big difference between actually hacking a site ( gaining (illegally obtained) access to restricted sections of a site/application) and crashing a server, which can be rebooted any time. No real damage done there.

Re: Lulzsec
They got into the site and got emails and such from it and some data but they aren't going to release I heard.
Re: Lulzsec
Yeah they got access to the govt. site, but it was the public area, meaning they got access to publicly available data. Some emails between goverment officials is publicly available. Recently they released Sarah Palin`s mailbox.
But, it`s like I said, I don`t think it`s a good thing to publish personal user data like the 60k emails + pass. It`s not good, and yeah, probably should be charged for theft. But on the other hand, I do encourage them to keep on going. The fact people now get killed over it is not their fault. The governments run scared and have no decent jurisidiction on it, so they just do whatever they can, which by default is not the right thing to do. By arresting or even killing "semi" innocent people really is giving a wrong signal to the world. Just because they hacked some site? Besides, another argument can be passed here and that is that they never really stole anything. They copied it. The original databases are still operational, including the user data.

Re: Lulzsec
Yeah I hate that email part what I did to check if I was on there is open the document and search all my emails and none of mine were on there. I see the point why you want them to keep going and they probably will be going for a while longer. There is a rumor that was going around that they were a cell of the group Anonymous and if you don't know who that is they are anti-government hacker vigilantes that "Bring justice the technological wrong doings of the government."
