Hello all my name is Scott. I have been a hobbyist developer since about 2001 when I started in high school. Long story short after several years I had developed a mildly successful (mildly to me meaning I didn't have to pay for server costs lol) hack and slash online RPG developed mainly in PHP and MySQL. I kept with it and took it from its text based state, added graphics, an editor in VB6 that could create everything (maps, NPC's, quests, items, etc). About that same time I was graduating from high school and getting ready to go to college (2005ish); so I took that crappy VB6 editor and created a new one online and taught a couple people I trusted how to use it. My time to develop became less and less until it was pretty much non-existent. Needless to say my user base slowly left and went on to greener pastures, like WoW lol.
I stumbled onto this site by random chance and it has sparked the urge to start developing again, so thanks for that.
I look forward to speaking with all of you.

Re: Hello All
wow that sounds like a great past in game development! Especially a successful game. A successful game is not one that makes tons of money but rather one with a loyal fan base and one that brings a dream to life. You set out to build a game and you accomplished it. One many of us here strive for everyday.
I think you will fit in nicely around here

Re: Hello All
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
I am going to bring the game back online around the first of next week.
What I would like to do with it now is, number one, get the code back up to standard, lol. After that I would like to to turn it into a framework for other people to develop their own game. The browser based editor was the first step in doing that.
I will hopefully come back from the long weekend with a general development roadmap for everyone and maybe I will find some extra time and get the old girl off the localhost.
