Progress Report

Post by kaos78414 »

So I still haven't come up with a name for this project, but I have come up with a few story hooks. I've decided that there will be no main story line, if only because I'd like people to always feel that there is more to explore (and to always be adding new maps, beasts, items etc.).

Anyway I've gotten a little bit more of the base stuff down, like initial character creation (right now it's very simple, I need to add a few things, like male/female choice). The initial character creation is meant to be pretty vague: You choose adventurer or worker, male or female, and a first name to go with your families last name (I decided to keep the family system). A family will start off with a bit of gold (or whatever I decide to call the in-game currency), and a low-tier house.

Neat idea: Houses could be upgradeable, and the largest houses could provide extra character slots for a family (up to a maximum of 10).

Anyway, for now character creation is simple, but eventually I want to have avatars with different eyes, hairstyles, etc. to allow for a more customized feel. Here's a little clip showing character/family creation so far:

Nice video - really helps to show what you mean. It's all presented really nicely! What did you use to capture the video, btw?

Thanks! The video was captured using http://screenr.com/

It's awesome. It works really well and you can automatically tweet the video, and upload it to youtube. I add the music using youtube's new audio swap feature, which is pretty handy as well.
