back to the IRC question
I am most likely going to create a IRC server. Anyone get on IRC?
Xchat is a great free client that is easy to use. I would make a quick tutorial on how to use it. I am on it most of the day anyways on other channels.

Re: back to the IRC question
Why are you going to run an IRC server for one site? You'd probably get a bit of advertising out of running a channel on an established network.

Re: back to the IRC question
the name of the channel is #Indie-Resource
just go to Server--> list of channels, change your settings to channels with 1 to 9999 users, then search,
or just type /join #Indie-Resource

Re: back to the IRC question
what exactly is an IRC server? ive never really known what it was
Re: back to the IRC question
IRC
Basically, most people use it for live chat, where it's possible to maintain a channel and administer it. One of the most popular clients to use (at least back in the day) is/was mIRC, maybe you've heard of it.
It's also possible to transfer files and allot more, but I haven't explored all the possibilities myself. For Indie Resource, this makes it a place to talk in a different arena than these forums. Chats are real time though, so you'll only see discussions from the point you logged in. And unless someone sets up a chat log for everyone to see (or you actively copy the chats manually), chats are lost at the moment you log out. Forums are preserved, so chats are better for loose conversations rather than the typical discussions here at the forums.
Edit: fixed so the link goes to english version, not norwegian...
