What are your current projects?

Post by PaxBritannia »

I was just wondering, what is everyone else doing development wise?

Are you learning php and extending the tutorial game?
Or are you working on the amazing mmo an you're not telling anyone?
Or have you quit/suspended your project?

Pax.

I am now working on my 3rd PHP browser game :P lol. But I am more excited about this one than the previous two (particularly the 2nd one), and I think I will see it through to completion. I took some time out from pre-production to learn a bit about Javascript and jQuery, but now I am back to work writing up the game and database design.

At work:
I am programming an internal website with a database, built on WAMP in html/javascript and PHP.

At home:
I am building Undiscovered, using Unity 3D (Javascript). I also play SL (Second Life), and run a business in it, programming some new items. I am also writing two novels.

Me myself, am not working really on anything right now other than building a website. I want to create a php browser game but I feel that I don't know enough php and don't know where to start. I have been trying to learn c++ to be honest because I have always wanted to create hacks for computer games. But Its complicated and I wanna work on php and mysql. I don't know If I should try learning JavaScript or not :/

I'm learning PHP and a bit of JS. Attempting to build a decent size browser game. I have designs and methods all worked out for what I'm doing. Just lack the experience with PHP to be making it happen quickly.

Building a simple 2D game engine with C++, SFML, and Lua. I'm also planning out a horror themed game me and a friend want to work on.

Having worked through the tutorials and building slightly on the browser based mmo, I am now reading an advanced php book in an effort to bring my understanding and knowledge of the language to a level where I will be able to code complex features. Once I have completed this I plan on learning jquery.

Although I will definatly be working on a browser based mmo after I finish working through this 900 page book. Once I have completed all of this I plan doing a course at my local university (two actually), one will be web design and the other php. I have certain goals where having the certification will be advantageous.

Hmm. I'll stick to straight development stuff, there is a bit of non-programming stuff in here too.

Current Projects - Active
Indiepoint
  • Indie Page API
  • Eventually new Skin
  • Library for Games on the network (network chat, friends list, achievements, and all kinds of other stuff
  • Cloud storage for web-based games, and unity projects on our eventual publishing / portal meeting
    -Eventually-
  • Mobile Apps to extend the site
  • Indiepoint TV (Using Google TV)
Internal Studio Website
  • Building the engine that the website will run using.
  • It's essentially a 2D game (ala zelda) that runs on our site with networked chat and stuff. Highly, Highly Optimized and integrated nicely. We are thinking of releasing it as an Open Source project sometime after our site is up so other people can benefit from it later. Since we are putting so much work into it though, we want to be novel for atleast awhile :p
  • This is not a MMO, will more than likely never again work on a MMO project that doesn't directly pay

Current Projects - In Planning

3D fighting game POC using unity.
  • Got pushed back because of the Unity 3.0 beta.
  • Currently looking for art people, will be 50% code complete in a little while though.
Domotics Soultion using Unity Android / Iphone / Ipad. And alot of other cool stuff
  • Making test software and stuff necessary for the business plan
  • Considering pitching to an investment firm.

Then there are some projects that are currently in-progress around my group that I am loosely affiliated with, but not really a major contributor to yet. I'll have screenshots, and dev diaries for a good deal of this stuff eventually. At the very least definitely the 2D
