I've finally decided which route to take for my graphical style now that the key areas needing those kind of graphics are in place...at least in a state for testing purposes. Right now I'm using place holders I have made myself but I'm not an artist so they pretty much look like they were maid in MS paint.
Do we have any artists in the community that work with isometrics? A good reference would have to be Evony. For what I'm trying to achieve this style is what I need. I also need isometric trees, rocks, general landscape items.
Isometric Graphics
Re: Isometric Graphics
evony is the worst reference. if your going to make a reference like then your best to use travian, or age of empires. even then it would be illegal to use their work anyways.

Re: Isometric Graphics
he was just meaning a reference, not to actually copy them.
here is what I did for my iso game

I just took 3d models and screenshotted them from a reference point. Sounds like a lot of work but there are so many free models out there and being you are most likely using just images there is so much you can change quickly.

Yeah I just meant it as a reference point to convey the style i'm looking for.jpoisson wrote:evony is the worst reference. if your going to make a reference like then your best to use travian, or age of empires. even then it would be illegal to use their work anyways.
A few of my placeholders are models I loaded into Sketchup and took screen shots of but I'm needing an actual artist to maintain the same style over all images. The big issue with just grabbing free stuff from all over the net is continuity. it just looks odd to have 4 buildings side by side all with different shading and textures.hallsofvallhalla wrote: here is what I did for my iso game

My other project which is a dark future setting is using all top down graphics and art. That I have no problem doing myself. It's just for some reason I love Isometric graphics in a fantasy setting. I guess it goes back to old school console RPGS.
