Greetings

Post by Tony Richards »

I've already made a couple of posts on the forums but I suppose I should take some time and introduce myself.

My name is Tony Richards and I'm a professional software developer and game designer.

I have worked on Indie titles Arcanoria, Gunships by Sarge, Keldata: Gantlet, Ascension / Renegades, AIR MMO, Fractured Universe, Visions, and quite a number of unnamed prototype games.

I'm currently working with several game development teams working on a variety of games using the Indie Game Engine. My role is primarily supporting the teams by developing scripts and enhancing the game engine to handle the technical requirements of their games.

The game I'm most looking forward to seeing finished is my own Fractured Universe. It's a 3d fantasy online simulation with tools and rules for hosting game-master directed role playing games. It focuses on a unique style of collaborative story-telling with video, audio and text. It's not exactly a "game" as it more akin to an online toy that people can play with. If the game format is a success, I suspect it will be a new genre, bringing back some of the play style of the text based MUD games and mixing it with a 3d virtual world / simulation.

When I'm not writing software or making games, I spend time with my better half, Janeen. We love to travel, cook, eat, and sail and generally we mix them all together and have sailing vacations.

Great site, Halls! I'll definitely be hanging around and possibly submitting some of my own resources as well.

Thanks Tony,

Fractured Universe sounds like a pen and paper players dream. Can't wait.

I am also waiting for my chance to use Indie Game Engine ;)

Neat, don't suppose you have something to show us regarding this project? Screenshots, videos etc?

I finished a prototype 3 years ago and you can see the images from the prototype on the Fractured Universe Facebook page.

I don't know if you recall the Dream Games 90 day MMO contest... Fractured Universe was the first place winner.

The contest version used Torque. The new version is using the Elite version of Indie Game Engine.

Splash screen... pretty much the same as the old one and eventually will be replaced.

Login / Character selection screen... not very impressive since it's still being developed and I'm still using the default Indie Game Engine GUI skin.

I'll post some better screenshots eventually, but for now that'll have to do :P
