So I decided that I'm not going to do this car as a pure high-poly render model, and to rather see if I can make a COMPLETE car (engine, hood, trunk, full interior, etc) and import it into GTA4 down the road. So I redid the modelling that I had done and started fresh..Here is the new model after about 2 hours of work. Gonna try and aim for around 30,000 polys with the car complete (the mustang was roughly 80,000..) Currently the body is 770 polys.

and here's a high quality render of it.

Looking better?

EDIT: Better shot..the last hipoly was kinda messed up (seam down the middle where I didn't want it etc) so I fixed a couple things and rendered out a new image.

I've come to realize I'm not quite good enough at modelling cars yet to get them clean AND lowpoly enough for games..and the timeline was coming crunching down (due tomorrow morning), so I decided to just keep going with a high-poly render version.

Here's the progress of it..I'll have some finished shots up later when I'm done with it, but needed to take a little break from modelling so I figured I'd post up some shots of it.

Looks great D3luxe! It sucks that you couldn't get it to what poly count you need, but low poly cars never really have a nice render aspect :P Good luck with it!

Thanks! :)

Well, this just gives me more of an excuse to start another car project soon then, try and get better and better at optimization for lowpoly :P

Actually I was just rufing CG Society and saw this post with a link. (Mainly saw it because my favorite car is the Camaro(preferably the '69 but beggars can't be choosers)) but here it is:

Its pretty epic and VERY VERY realistic, I wish I could model vehicles just so I could make and rig myself a Camaro..

That video is amazing LKH. Love it, hope I get to that level eventually.

Thanks Spirit

Here's the newest shot. I finished it up for my final - fixed some stuff with the rear lights, added somewhat of an interior (!!!!), and rendered a turnaround of it. I'll post the turnaround later tonight, but in the meantime here's the newest shot.
