Hexagons or squares?

Post by Verahta »

Just curious about some of your personal opinions. When you are playing a game that has a grid type navigation/locations, do you prefer shapes like hexagons or squares?

Thanks!

Civ V won me over for hexagons but both work if done well.

I think it depends on the type of movement you want. An hexagon can have 6 "exits", while a square only has 4. So if you want to restrict movement, you should choose a square.

I prefer squares because they are easier to code :D

Definitely depends on what type of game you are building
