I've had a chunk of emails on this since I took over the system. For the most part people don't mind spending money for the system but there is a large gap in time to make it 'yours'. NWE does a lot out of the box but it is, by design, generic. Basically examples to draw from.

There are a couple of efforts for Crime and Space Opera here now. NWE as the base with all modules geared specifically for those two genre.

If created right (the modules) anything can be made for anything. This is where the config keys come into play and the text editor thingy-ma-bob, and correct usage of Talranslate(). Look at DJK's bank system, he loaded that up with config keys to change the name of the module, even in the main menu.

Bottom line, creating ANY game can make it a "Turn Key" game.

NWE is a great engine. Ready to become what you want. With work, effort, sweat. You can have the world.

Turn-Key means ready to play on release. I feel we have a long way to go before the game is live, without work.

I'm sorry but creating something fully ready out of the box defeats the purpose of NWE entirely IMHO. This engine has what, 140+ modules to pick and choose from? Creating a turn key game is just going to turn this into another MC game. This engine is designed to take anything and make it your own with minimal effort. I don't mean to sound harsh but I couldn't get on board with that.

Now I don't know if your going to follow suit with what Alain was doing when it comes to modules he created by giving them with a full license, but coming from a module developer standpoint, I don't think we will create modules that are that specific.

I would agree. A turn Key game will result in what has happened with so many "turn-key", 1 million copies of the same game. Give them the tools to make something great with little effort but make sure there is enough effort there that only the truely inspired make something.

All good points. I really want the engine to go in the direction Alain was pointing it. But we need to remember it is an engine, like a car. Not everyone wants to go in and put it together from scratch. Some people like sports cars, others SUV's but may not be a mechanic. We want to add the 'sexy' part to the workhorse NWE engine. I hope we meet everyone's goals.
