I forgot to warn you about choosing your location...
If you want to be in the US, go to FLORIDA. The Q5 hospital is VERY important later on.
I personally wouldn't recommend being in the US right now. It's economy is kind of sucky right now due to a war with PEACE (imperialist alliance of superpowers and their puppets). I would recommend Netherlands as a newb starting area, since their governmnt training companies (yay socialism
) allow the minimum wage to be ridiculously high (at 5 NLG). If you start in Netherlands, I think it's Northern Netherlands that has the Q5 hospital (this is NECESSARY for leveling later on). Or you could just start in Orissa, India, where I am now.
EDIT: Here, I made a tutorial for eRepublik:
1.) Get a job. Hover your mouse over the "Market" tab and click "Job Market." A list of jobs should appear, starting with the highest paying. On the page, there will be a dropdown box allowing you to choose the skill level, type, and nationality of the job. You want a skill 0 job in America, and any type (manufacturing, land, or construction), although I'd recommend land or manufacturing. Click the "Apply" button for the job you want. It should take you to the company's page and you can work that day. To work, just click the "Work" button. It's that simple.
2.) After working, you get paid (in USD, since you're in the US). Go to the "Market" tab again, and click "Marketplace." Then under the dropdown box, select "Food" (wih the bread icon), and buy whatever food you want (since the American economy is incredibly sucky right now due to a war with PEACE, you'll probably be stuck with Q1 food for now if you're in America).
3.) Train. Hover you mouse over "My places" and click "Army" (Note: also under My Places is "Company," which you click to go to work every day). On the army page, there is the "Train" button, and a link to the list of wars going on (ignore the wars for now, you can't fight until level 5).
4.) You get 1 exp for training, 1 exp for working, and 1 exp for eating. This results in 3 exp per day (until you can start fighting and getting more), and you will be level 6 in about a week or so if you do it correctly. However, you also lose 1 wellness every time you work or train, and gain some wellness when you eat (how much you gain is dependent on how much you currently have and the quality of the food). Wellness is VERY important. It determines your productivity in work, your damage in combat, and you also have to have at least 40 wellness to fight. DO NOT LET YOUR WELLNESS DROP BELOW 40. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET IT BACK UP IF IT GOES BELOW 40.
5.) After you're level 5, you are able to fight. BEFORE YOU FIGHT, MOVE TO AN AREA WITH A QUARTER 5 HOSPITAL (such as Florida, if you want to be in the US). To move, you will need a moving ticket. I will try and send you one once you need it (they're pretty expensive for your level). Once you get the moving ticket, go to your profile, and somewhere there should be a link that says "Change Location" (look under the area where it shows your current location). Click this link, and if you have a moving ticket, you will be able to select a new country and region. Do some research and ask me (or just ask me XD) about the region before moving.
6.) Once you're in a location with a Q5 hospital, you can fight. Your first time fighting, you will only fight once. After you fight, go back to the battlefield page, and there will be a link that says "You can heal at the hospital." Click the link, and it wiill take you to your region's page. On your region's page, look for the hospital icon, and near it should be the "Heal" button. Click it, and boom, you just got +50 wellness. This system of fighting and healing is from now on your main source of exp and it will keep your wellness up (try to keep your wellness above 90). You can just buy Q1 food and save the rest of your money as long as you keep fighting 4 or 5 times a day and then healing.
7.) Also at level 6, you get 5 gold (and I get 5 gold also, since you used my invite link). DO NOT SPEND THIS ON WELLNESS PACKS. SAVE IT. Or invest it in some shares, or put it in some bank deal (PM me about making contracts if you decide to do this), or you can fiddle around with the monetary market (basically, you sell gold for currency and currency for gold. You make profit every time something sells, due to the way the market works.). Alternatively, you can spend 2 of that gold to create a newspaper, or later on, once you get more, you can buy/make a company.
8.) After a while, you'll be able to get involved in politics (note, if you changed countries, you will have to get citizenship in the new country or move back to the old country before doing anything political), running for congress seats, even running for presidency eventually. You can create your own party (costs A LOT of gold, 40 to be exact), or join an existing one.
