Yes and no. Some developers say it does but other argue it isn't. Might find this article interesting.

It's Dalvik Java. For all intensive purposes, It's Java.

The language is basically the same as Java SE 6. The class library is part Oracle's and part new.

I would love to take this course. Not sure if my mind could handle it knowing I took 2 semesters off college then I am going back the first week of October.
Recommended Background
This course is directed to Sophomore- or Junior-level undergraduate students. Students should already know how to program in Java, but are not expected to have studied mobile application development.
If you don't already know Java, but have strong familiarity with other programming languages, you can improve your Java knowledge, by taking one of the many Java tutorials and online courses available on the web.
I will be taking the second level of Java Programing also this coming semester. It might be a nice match, but I am also taking intro to business (something I am really interested in as well)
