3D Model - 2008 BMW M3

Post by D3luxe »

So one of my upcoming projects for class is to model a car. I figured I'd start tonight, since A- I was bored and B- I wanted to get a head start.

I don't want to post the type of car that it is yet..I want to see if you guys can tell what it is just by the screen shots yet. Hell, I'd be happy even if you didnt guess the exact car but got the make right!

Plus, I thought you all might enjoy a WIP of a car project rather than just the final renders.

Here's after about 2 hours work. Just collected enough reference images and what-not and had a chance to study them enough to be able to get the rough curves and areas of the car lined out.

First person to guess the make gets a cookie, first person to guess the model gets 2! :D

Ding ding, 2 cookies. Good..I wanted to make sure that I could get the shape down recognizable enough that people could tell what car it is. Looks like it worked :)

It's a 2008 BMW M3.

A friend of mine used to own one, not a 2008 model, but owned a BMW 3 series, looked similar to that actually!

Nice :)

I reworked a few of the areas (mainly the front/rear window and roof), so heres a couple new pics. Hopefully after class today I can get started on some of the modelling.

2H into this so far.

First update..Hood and some of the front end done. I'm gonna be re-doing the metal grates in the front tomorrow probably, I realized I was tired and was only doing it half-assed so it turned out like complete shit. All uneven and everything, lol. Anyway, here it is..3 hours in.
