I played Achaea for a couple of years, which I am pretty sure you already knew. If you have never checked it out before, I would suggest to try it. Also read around the help files. It is a deep, deep, deep game. Probably the deepest, most complex fantasy MMORPG out there. Things like a fully player-run political system, a complex House system, war and peace mechanics, etc.
The major downside is that it has microtransactions. However, its system far predates current-day microtransactions, and some things are not...balanced like they try to do today. Instead of things costing $1 - $4 like they do today, there are some items that cost into the hundreds of dollars. And they can give a huge advantage in PvP (although I never really did PvP since it was too complicated for my liking, but some players lived and breathed it). There are always a handful of players who are "Artifacted-up" as they used to call it, having spent literally thousands of dollars on their character.
EDIT: Oh, but to be fair, you can spend in-game gold to buy credits, so technically you can get everything by just playing that you can get by spending money. It would just take a long time.

Kewl thanks for suggestion. I have heard of it and they send me emails occasionally that are always inspiring. Like all the stories, events, and history they have. Will give it a try.
