Google Glass

So I received an invitation to be part of the google glass program and purchase my own glass. I decided to go ahead and purchase the google glass and see what I can develop on it in the hopes of being in the forefront of our future technology.
Have I just invested into a completely unproven technology and wasted my money? Or have I invested into being in the forefront of our future?
Opinions on the Google Glass?

I can't speak for the future, but I do know it has gotten a very lukewarm welcome. People using them on live TV have been downright laughed at, and the list of issues and privacy concerns is a mile long.
That said, I would still love a pair just to play with them lol. So in that regard, I don't think you made a mistake.

What is your personal opinion about such technology?

It would absolutely creep me out to talk to someone wearing them. To the point where I would ask them to take them off. They should have never added the ability to capture video.

We got a Google glass at work! It's quite cool, haven't tried all the features yet.

Technology like that, is the future.
And it looks like in the future we have no privacy.
I would imagine going to a public mensroom urinal... and both guys beside of you are wearing Google Glass..
Scary but cool!

my biggest issue is they gave the free ones to non developers and complete morons. Some good people got them but everyone I know who got them just put, " I want google glasses because they are kewl"
One of my buddies applied and has a HUGE history of developing and was turned down while our other buddy put on his app, "I want to see x-ray poop" and was accepted. This is not a joke. Made us all so mad we were like screw it.

I really don't want such stuff. No way to have always recording on, and maybe even sending it to the cloud. Big brother is watching you? No thanks. Also I hardly see any advantage of it. I have a smartphone and even there I hardly use it as most use it. No facebook, no twitter, no social networks etc... I received a tablet which I never use, and received a smartwatch with my latest phone... Fun but that ends about there.
Sorry google, but your google glass and your google chromebook are for me garbage.

Personally I liked how it helps the handicapped, deaf/blind.
Deaf, it writes what it hears.
Blind, it tells you what the camera recognizes.
And for tourism translation, look at a text and get it shown you in english or vice-versa.
Otherwise is just another tool to get every crazy moment to youtube for the world to watch.
"Hey gaiiisszz, I just saw this one fellow step on a poop, check out this video I recorded with GG".. *breeeze* I can just feel it coming..

I agree with all of you, yes it's bad for privacy, but it's a really cool gadget, i applied to get ones too but they didn't send me anything, i would like to develop something for it if i had the skill but in the beginning i would use them just for testing and see how it is.
Halls thats complete crap i know but it's the world we live in ..
