A small movie to show the creation of the texture of one of the pants for cubicverse. It takes me around 1 hour to create one of those, and then around 10 min for the setup render time till it's usable inside the game.

To create the texture (color & displacement maps) I uses ZBrush. For the rendering Modo 701, and for the sprite sheet I made a soft myself in C#.

Is it too hard to make simple human beings (not much details) that can be animated ? (3d)

Nice video btw.

Yes and no. Humans are hard because we do have a lot of "knowledge" about them. What I mean is, if it's not really good, you will spot immediately the issues, but it doesn't mean it's easy to fix them. However the base human without much details as you say can be done, and I did it as you know it. Keep in mind that if you never made any 3D then... this is certainly something far too hard to start with.

In my case, you see here just the bottom of the human body, where I painted over the base model. I use then that as texture to render like a paper doll element, which will be composed on the screen. Basically you have the body, and then any piece of equipment which will be drawn above it (yes it has an order on which you can do that). With this trick, your 2D avatar will display what you wear.

Hum, I've modeled some guns.. but never bodies :/

I think i shouldn't start since i don't want to be a modeler, i know the basics and that's not bad.

Thanks for your opinion.
