So I have been using it for about 3 months now and have 1 comment for it
stupid

if you are 90 years old then maybe it is worth a crap . other than that it is just silly. It and IOS7 are a joke and nothing like what this all got started on, nothing like what we have all grown to love. I feel like we the real computer lovers have all been put on the back burner.

I'm using it since Jan this year at home. And I immediately installed a start button software. Sorry MS, your metro idea is totally useless. I don't want it, I don't need it, and certainly don't like it either. Beside that, the fact that they removed support for DVD and the desktop widgets are 2 things I miss. Finally the look, sorry, but I don't like it all that much. Win 7 was ok / good... Win 8 is as plain and boring as possible. I do like the transparence effect on win 7... why remove it? Just because it need to run on some stupid tablets I don't want to have?

I will get it with my new pc, and probably will just follow alain and install a 3rd party desktop app.

I will be using it just for coding so i shouldn't be too mad with it :)

I have been using it since before launch, and with a Start Button app installed, I think it is fine. Some parts are a bit aesthetically ugly to it still, like the "Choose a program to open this with" dialog and a few others, but other than that I am fine with it. As usual, the big change version of Windows has a lot of problems, and then the next version is typically much better. Windows 95 (although very popular) had tons of problems. Windows 98 was solid. Windows Vista was bad. Windows 7 was much better. Windows 8 is bad...see the pattern here?

If I were Microsoft, I would fork Windows 9 off in 2 directions: Tablet version and desktop version. Metro really does work well for Tablets and touchscreen computers (my wife and I have one of each between us), but you can't have it both ways, as the new interface just doesn't work well for mouse and keyboard. They should make a 100% desktop version with a regular Start Button, no Metro (or at least very-in-the-background Metro), and all of the enhancements to desktop that comes with Windows 8 (yes, there is still a lot of love for desktop in W8). The home desktop market may be ailing, but business ensures it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

agreed with all the comments. It gets us by sure but I think it is time for a change like Win3.1 to windows 95 change. Something new and innovating, something to change the landscape and how we think of a desktop today.
