Should i do a sequel of my old Game?

Hello community, damn always the same intro
So, i have like one month till the finals and i'm starting to doubt if i will get in some college.. (my life will just end..) So like a reasonable person, i'm thinking in a plan B.
Of course nowadays its near impossible to live with indie game development (i know about minecraft, amnesia etc etc, but cmon wanna compare my games with those?)... The more years that i live, the more i think that it's harder to come up with something new.
So in the lack of good ideas, or maybe the lack of time to fulfill those good ideas, i start remembering my first 3D Game, Road to Darkness, a horror survival game.
As the first 3D Game and first official one, i think it got a lot of success, it even got played by RUSSIANS! "WTF RUSSIANS?", you say, YEAH RUSSIANS!
All this for a month of production, being this month 80% to learn how to do it, since i was starting unity from scratch. So yeah..
Well if you are still reading sorry for the whole life story, but my question is, "Is it a good idea to do a sequel of a old game?" (by old i mean October 2012) I ask this because you know that if Call of Duty wouldn't give any money there wouldn't be more of them you know. But this game as my first, it kinda feels it's special
What you think?

I would say any project need a full completion to be useful. So whatever you pick, stick to it till it's fun to play. Beside that, nearly all is doable, simply don't take something which is way above your skills or possibilities.
BTW minecraft does have some great public view, yet, it's by far not unique, nor the first in nearly any field. Sandbox games are old story. Yet it worked well, so you don't need to be new, you need to offer a fun aspect to your game, whatever you do.

Heheh i think "fun" won't be the good spot in this sequel, since it's a horror game i want to make one that whoever plays it cant sleep anymore, i want to gather all my fears, and all my team fears, even yours if you want to share, and join them in one single game that sh*t everyone's pants!

Fun means you enjoy your time playing it. Even a scare movie must have some interest and not just blood scattering around otherwise it would be boring.

I am one of those sick bastards who love horror movies
Anyway, I suggest doing a sequel if you are highly interested in doing it. Sequels typically exist only to capitalize on the success of its predecessors. For most indie games, that would mean the success of completing the game and the interest you have in it. If that isn't there, then I highly suggest to do something else.

Well, first sorry for calling u a bastard xD It's just impossible in me to have fun watching those horror movies..
About the sequel, the first one was because some friends ask me to do it, and i took the challenge of course and made it in 1 month no sweat

Now that i have more experience in unity, and i think i can make a good sequel in 1 week im a little motivated

.
I want to make something that is fun like alain said, and at the same time summons your darkest fears.
So jacko.. tell me what would u like to see in a horror game / movie since you like them so much

Well, horror movies and games are quite different. Horror games can be difficult to pull off. My favorite of all time (and one that I am sure a lot of people will disagree with me on) is the
Siren series. The two to appear in the US from the series are
Siren on PS2 and
Siren: Blood Curse on PSN. What made these games so creepy are also one of the reasons why some critics did not like it: you were almost always powerless against the zombie-like "shibito" (a Japanese mythical monster). You spend most of your time hiding from them, and using a skill called "sightjacking" to see through the shibito's eyes. Nothing is scarier than sightjacking a shibito to try to tell where it is to see if it is safe to make a run for it only to suddenly see the back of your character's head. It is also disturbing to just look through their eyes when they are minding their own business. One of the shibito in the first game is in a garden, and keeps hitting a plant with a rock in its hand while crying and moaning.
Check out some videos of it on YouTube if you don't have a PS3 (in which case check out the demo of Blood Curse). But I think the creepiest thing of all in horror games is being under-powered. Way too many horror games give you a gun that can kill the monsters and tons of ammo, and still expect it to be scary. How could it be? The monsters should be scared of you! It doesn't get much creepier than running for your life!

That sounds a pretty cool game, Jack! The sigh jacking seemed quirky too me, but it's pretty much like in a horror movie when they give you the monsters point of view - particularly the back of the head thing. And the plant and rock thing...yeah, even when it's okay, they aren't looking, it's not okay!
I think what might be good is if there are lesser creatures that through the game you get power ups against and can get better and better at beating them. But yeah, have the main monsters just be monsters. Terrors!
Good point!
