Ted Movie:
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish…and has refused to leave his side ever since.

Watched this movie Friday night (7-13-12) and laughed through the whole movie. I recommend going to see this movie if you have not!

Weird lol. IMDB says it won't be released in the UK until Aug 1. Maybe what you saw was a limited release theater. They can sometimes get movies a few weeks before the "wide release". Or maybe IMDB is just wrong lol (wouldn't be the first time).

Was it really that good?
It looked like one of those movies where the only funny parts are in the trailers.

Considering how edgy Family Guy is, I can only imagine that Seth MacFarlane ran wild in his first R-rated movie. They probably had to think long and hard about how to make a TV-friendly trailer, so I would not think the funny parts were all in the trailer. If anything, the trailer may have been some of the worst parts lol

I doubt this would be a 'only funny bits are in the trailer'. There's supposed to be toilet humour as well, and that isn't in the trailer. The guy tends to just drop funny, border pushing stuff all over the place in his work. It's like he can't stand going 2 minutes straight without doing something screwed up!

Seth MacFarlane secret is to drag out funny moments. He makes 10 funny moments last 30 minutes. Family guy is the worst when it comes to that, they break away to show George Washington doing something funny and it lasts like 3 minutes yet the joke has been told. Don't get me wrong I love some family guy but I see what he is doing. There are moments though when he takes things too far, and I will not go into what exactly but most of you know, that I have to turn it.

Oh, I totally understand what you mean. It can also seem cheap and too easy that most of the jokes are told in cut-aways and flashbacks that have little to do with the plot. The later seasons are trying to get away from that at least somewhat and work in more jokes in the actual running plot.

However, I would be interested to know if Ted is like that, since obviously Family Guy is written by professional script writers, not MacFarlane himself (he probably works with them considering how close he is to the show, doing several voices himself and all, but no one person could write a whole season in one year no matter who they are). I don't know if he established Family Guy's cut-away style or the script writers who initially developed the show.

Guess it depends whether what George Washington is doing is funny to you, or if it grates. I'm in Australia, so I don't exactly have any intimate ties with American history/historical figures. We always watch imported American stuff like it's about this magical fairy world who have white stuff at christmas (while it's boiling hot here) and all these strange customs. You're our favorite fictional country!
