HTML5 Game - Galactic Conquest

Hey everyone, so I just started learning HTML5 using a few tutorials on the internet and made my first game tonight in about 4-5 hours. I call it Galactic Conquest and it is based off of a game I made using Java a few months ago.
You can play the game here:

At the menu you use the up and down arrows to select your option and then press enter. You use the arrow keys to move left and right and the spacebar to fire when you are in-game.

Yeah, it is neat that you got it up and running. Keep working on it, any way of adding High Scores?

I like that you make the ship fly up at the end, it's a nice touch.
To me the enemy ships look like they are flying backwards - but that's not a big deal.
You might want to center the explosion more on the center of the enemy ship - it seems to be centered on the impact point/the point the bullet was last at.

I didnt use an engine.. just simply moving images and rectangles
