Hey everyone, well as java and android are becoming more popular I was wondering if java could have its own section with tutorials, help, android development, etc. I know I could contribute to it and I'm sure some others could too. Just a suggestion though.

Even though I am one of the people working on it, I would have to say it would be better to wait and see. Once you make a forum section, if it dies way down it is extremely confusing and disorganized to remove it and move the conversations into other sections (hence why we keep around some of the extremely slow forum section that obviously could have gone a long time ago). A few months back it looked like C#, XNA and .NET were going to become the dominant 2nd language/platform around here (after PHP, HTML, JS, etc.), and then suddenly its activity just dropped off. Since we already have the Coding section and the Tutorials section really isn't typed to any one language or platform, the sections already exist for it. Since I am working on Java and Android, it would be kind of cool, but I personally would just want to wait a bit and see if it really becomes a dominant force here in the forums.

But of course this is just my take on things and Halls would make the final decision.

I would have to agree with Jack on this.

The tutorial section as well as beginner and advanced help cover this very option!!

This site started from PHP and it doesn't even have a PHP section

It is better to have all the code in one place then just tag the thread with JAVA, but thanks for suggestion and thanks for the tutorials!

Could there possibly be a tag that tags it as a certain language, for example "Need help with some code! [JAVA]" Just a thought!

I like this Idea

Some people around here have been kind of doing that ad hoc, by just adding something like [java], [.NET], [iPhone], etc. It is up to the poster, though, because I think trying to make official tags would be an exercise in futility to keep up all of the topics people would want.
