Actual Sculpting

Well after I tried doing a 3d sculpt as a gift for my brother to get it printed, I decided to try actual sculpting with clay. I had his statue all finished up when the numerous companies I went to said they couldn't do it, or that it was going to be an absurd price soooo here we are. Instead of making his statue (since the time passed for that) I decided to make a wolverine statue for myself as a trial run. I eventually plan on making a batman, superman, hulk, captain america, etc etc etc. I enjoy this more than digital sculpting :)

Heres a few shots of just wolverines head, but I dont have a most recent, I broke my cell (waiting for a clay shipment so I wont have any pictures for a while).

Very, very nice! :D

But don't stop modeling, though! Clay sculptures can't be put in games....yet!

Yes they can, through 3d scanning!! :) And with a little help, I showed him how to build a 3d scanner for less then $50!! :)

@Jackolantern
Haha I havent completely stopped 3d modelling, it's taken a bit of a back track right now. I'm finding myself getting into a lot of hobbies and making time for each. Im doing some woodworking (consttruction of things I actually need, a lot cheaper than buying them or getting one specially made), back into drawing, SOME 3d modelling (mainly design work), and of course sculpting :)

@Chris
It's clay, for the head I used Super Sculpey Firm, the body will be using Super Sculpey, then once I bake it I might add more with the Firm stuff.

@OldRod
Thanks :) I like hearing these kinds of things, keeps me motivated!

Just finished up the wire armature (see pic), need to bulk out the thicker areas, might use epoxy putty or clay then bake it. Noooot sure.
Plans:
-Wait for clay and turpentine
-Finalize Head
-Bake Head
-Start roughing out the body
-3D model claws
-Get claws printed into stainless steel from Shapeways
-Finalize body
-Separate forearms from body
-Finalize arms with claws
-Bake
-Prime it
-Buy airbrush off of ebay
-Attempt to paint it
-Get frustrated because I hate painting
-FIN

Here is the armature. The forearms are removable to allow me to do lots of things easier.

Wow, this is great work. Makes me jealous - I have very little artistic talent. :P
