Zombie PBBGs
Still popular? What are some features you like about ones you play?
I know urban Dead is collecting players. Zombie Pandemic copied my idea to a T. Other than that i don't see too many.

Re: Zombie PBBGs
I have been a big zombie fan ever since I was about 8 years old, but the current zombie fad is looking ever closer to bursting. It seems like 1-in-3 games coming out today either has zombies in it or has a zombie add-on. Once the bubble bursts, I think only some of the high quality zombie entertainment, such as The Walking Dead TV show, will survive. And of course I wouldn't expect some of the old established zombie PBBGs like Urban Dead to suddenly disappear, but I think there will be a lot less players seeking out zombie games online afterwards. Really I am amazed the fad has lasted this long. I am already getting kind of sick of zombie stuff lol.

i doubt it will ever die. Every few years they release another movie or game that keeps people going.

Re: Zombie PBBGs
It will never fully die, but this is the most popular zombies have been since the early 80's and the end of the Romero trilogy. First vampires were the big fad (and still kind of are), but now zombies have taken their place. They will never disappear, but I can almost guarantee it is going to fall off a lot from here. Heck, there is even a fair amount of zombie commercials for non-zombie products and services (Toyota, HP, etc.)! This can't sustain itself before zombies will be considered "out of style".

I love it! I would definitely have to say it is the most high-quality zombie entertainment out there, and it has a huge backlog of comics in the series to pull inspiration from. Note that it is not going 100% by the comics, not even close, so being familiar with them won't spoil it.

I enjoyed the series and am waiting for season 2.hallsofvallhalla wrote:heeh true, Walking Dead is very kewl, on 5th episode of 1st season and loving it.
Die2nite is a pretty good pbbg.

Features I liked was exploring/gathering materials. I hate having daily limits but I gues they're needed to keep 'no-lifes' from hitting the level cap in a week. Crafting weapons/armor is a great feature. Good graphics (3D even )would really help a zombie game also because I think it adds quite a bit of flavor to something bland like a few pbbgs are.

You know it is running already, right?cassnyd wrote:I enjoyed the series and am waiting for season 2.
Call me jaded, but I think if someone has to make a daily cap on their entire game, there is a hole in the entire gameplay. If the game is so thin on content that someone could hit the level cap in just a couple of days, that is a problem. Probably the entire core mechanics of the game need to be re-worked.cassnyd wrote: I hate having daily limits but I gues they're needed to keep 'no-lifes' from hitting the level cap in a week.
However, I know why they do it. Pretty much every game with daily play limits will let you buy credits or tokens or something so you can keep playing. So they are trying to get players momentarily addicted to the game, let them get close to something they want, like a new weapon or a new zone, and then shut them off, hoping their impatience will get the better of them and they will buy more playtime. I think it is really kind of sick lol.

Yeah, but I wait for shows to be on netflix or I buy the dvds. I figured that's cheaper than paying for cable AND I dont have to sit through tv ads.Jackolantern wrote: You know it is running already, right?
This is so very true. This is one way Zynga made $$ from farmville.Jackolantern wrote: However, I know why they do it. ... So they are trying to get players momentarily addicted to the game ... their impatience will get the better of them and they will buy more playtime.

I heard about the Walking Dead after I met a few of the cast members. So far I like the show but have only seen season 1. DVR'ed all the episodes so far of season 2, but haven't watched any yet. Is it as good as season 1 or better?
