What is good in life, Conan?

I'm thinking of making a module where players can loot and take other players resources. What are good things to loot? As I have it currently, I'm thinking food crops, but is that glamourous to you folks? What thing would you say "Hehe, yeah, got your [insert item]!" to?

as in steal? or kill them and loot their body? or loot their farms.
I would not allow items to be stolen. That could really upset people. Anything with a counter would be fine. Like money, lumber, ect...

The best RPG I ever played that allowed people to steal from other players was the MUD, Achaea. You could steal anything and everything from anyone through a skillset that only a couple of classes had. It was hypnotism-based, where the class would snap in front of a player's face to hypnotize them, and then send them commands to remove their armor, hand it to you, etc. However, the game had many different and complex systems to support it. An RP law system existed to punish thieves if caught, players had defenses against thieves (such as a learned skill called "greed" that would not let you hand anything to anyone else while it was turned on), and a complex PvP system that would allow the victim to kill the thief repeatedly for a couple of days (with the thief losing 25% of their xp per kill).

I love the idea of commands for skills like this and others along with spells. Gives real skill to the game.

If you never checked out Achaea, you really should, just to see how it is set up. The only real downsides now are that the game was primarily designed to be RP-centric, with many systems such as politics, war, criminal justice, etc. that were operated through RP, but now most people don't seem to RP anymore which effectively kills off a couple of spheres of the game (there are still pockets of devoted RPers I am sure, but the game was really in full gear when RP was enforced and taken seriously by everyone, wall-to-wall). Also, the game is microtransaction-based. While that is not a bad thing in itself, I would have to really call it more of a macrotransaction game, as some of the items sold were upwards of $200!
If you can look past these negatives, I still think it is a game every prospective MMO designed should play. I have never found anything quite like it, and some of the systems and culture they have implemented are astounding. It is the only game I have ever actually had to study to advance in, and while some of it feels like real work, it is an amazing feeling to move up a rank in your city or House. The world truly feels alive and dynamic (I trained in PvP under a legend who is mentioned many times in the Achaean history books, a monk named Tranquility, who was just another regular player like anyone else who just really excelled at PvP).

I would definitely suggest checking it out, at least to see some of the things it implements. It can take a while to get into it to see how deep it is. Matt Mihaly, the lead designer, originally got a degree in political science so he had a ton of ideas centered around in-game politics and cultural systems.

Depends on the moment and circumstances. Generally I find the best thing in life is what makes you feel at ease the most at that certain moment of time.
