Saw this while watching "iCarly", yes I watch that show. Never watched until my daughter was born. Anyway, I am thinking about doing this on Unity, something similar anyway...ideas, thoughts?

That is just a Pac-Man clone.

I used to be way off of repeating past designs, but now I'm starting to think it's better to write a clone than code nothing. Alteast once you code the clone, you can then consider ways of mutating it and adding weird new stuff!

Re: Time killer
Clones are great when it comes to more traditional game development (such as C++, Flash, Silverlight, etc.; maybe not for a PHP PBBG, though). Both you and others can instantly tell what more needs to be done and if it ended up a success or if it fell short. There is also a great progression that is common in web development: Guess the Number, Tic Tac Toe, Pong, Break Out, Tetris, Galaga, and on and on. If the dev works along those projects one at a time in that order, they will learn enough to just barely be able to do the next one. And after that list, they will be able to manage more complex projects and really start working on their own unique projects

yeah I guess my reply was a bit short. Clones are great for learning and development. I was more referring to how it seems like the original was forgotten.

I think writing a collosal cave clone for PHP works.Jackolantern wrote:maybe not for a PHP PBBG, though).
Though it was pretty collosal!
