Guitar Hero put out to pasture

Post by Jackolantern »

Activision announced Thursday that it will stop manufacturing Guitar Hero after 2 years of slowing sales. Supposedly Rock Band sales also plummeted around 2008, but I believe they were likely higher through the whole time than GH, as RB simply seemed more popular after its initial release. Obviously the popularity of Rock Band hurt Guitar Hero, and Activision even released "Band Hero" to try to counter-act the lost sales, but obviously it did not work. Activision has cited a general loss of interest in rock music as the culprit, but rather than discuss DJ Hero in their press release (which did not do very well sales-wise and ended up in many discount stores), Activision decided to discuss the popularity of Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. So this could be the end of Activision's once record-setting involvement in music games, and peripheral-based games in general.

That's a very bad information we like to play it when we gather with the friend we really believe we're a band but our real performance leaves much to be desired! :) I hope that it's just gossip and the company will continue producing these games!
