Anyone know of a cheap game server I can rent? I can set one up here at the house but thought I would see what they are to rent first.

I found that I am using, called http://www.000webhost.com and its $4.84/month USD. I also checked with them, if you make an MMO you don't get extra charges for unusally high bandwidth/transfer usage. Unlimited HDD space, Unlimited bandwidth/transfer, Unlimited FTP accounts, Unlimited email accounts, Unlimited MySql databases, a .com;.net;.org;.co.uk, a reseller feature, and a whole lot more. Im not advertising for them, but thats what you get, and who I decided to go with. So just passing this along!!

thanks. I actually meant a game server not a webhost. I use godaddy for all my webhosts.

The host you spoke to meant a browser-based MMO. You typically cannot use a webhost to host a regular MMO or any kind of game because you cannot install applications on the server. For that, you needed a dedicated server, or some other game server setup. They typically cost much more than $4 or $5 a month.

Right, but if its a browser-based game...im still learning here, but what applications would have to be installed? It already has the phpMyAdmin, MySql and all the support i need as if I was playing the game as a test on the computer at home.

He wasn't saying that. Basically what he was saying is that Halls isn't trying to host a browser based mmo (like the one all of you guys are doing that tutorial for) He is trying to host an actual game server so we can have some friendly competition amongst each other.

Like a call of duty server, or counterstrike server, or what not.

Well, if it was a browser-based game, it probably would not need anything else, as long as it has a PHP interpreter. PHP-based MMORPGs behave just like regular websites because they are regular websites :D
